Amazon Pulls Out of Wylie Deal

Literary agent Andrew Wylie has backed out of a deal that would’ve given Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) exclusive rights to countless literary works, a month after the deal was announced.

The deal fell through after Wylie failed to agree to terms for electronic publishing of authors’ existing titles, and many feel it is a key element in the e-book war between Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Apple.

Random House, which published 13 out of the 20 titles Amazon was looking to acquire, disputed the digital rights to the titles Amazon was seeking to publish.
