MAUMELLE, Ark. – A judge has set bail at $25,000 for boxer Jermain Taylor after the former middleweight champion was jailed overnight in Little Rock in connection with a shooting that wounded his cousin.
Taylor appeared via video from the Pulaski County jail for an initial appearance Wednesday. District Judge Wayne Gruber set bail at $25,000 and granted a defense request for Taylor to travel out of state to train and compete in a bout against Sam Soliman in October.
Pulaski County Sheriff's Lt. Carl Minden says Taylor was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery and aggravated assault in a shooting that wounded Taylor's cousin, Tyrone Hinton.
Minden says the shooting happened Tuesday at Taylor's home in Maumelle, a suburb of Little Rock.
Taylor held the middleweight title from 2005 until 2007.
