Pennsylvania’s Sesame Place is the first theme park in the world to complete training to become a Certified Autism Center (CAC).

The certification was granted by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards, Fox 4 Now reported.
As part of being a CAC, all staff members at the “Sesame Street” themed amusement park will be specially trained to work with guests with autism. The training will cover areas like sensory awareness, motor skills, autism overview, program development, social skills, communication and environment and emotional awareness, the park website states. To keep the certification, the park must take the autism training course every two years.
The park, which has rides, shows and parades, will feature accommodations for guests with autism like quiet rooms, noise canceling headphones and low-sensory areas.

“Sesame Street” character Julia, who has autism, will also be at the park for guests to visit. Julia was introduced to the cast in 2015 as part of the show's Autism: See Amazing in All Children initiative.
Sesame Place opens for the season on April 28.
