Several of President Obama's Hollywood Supporters Critical of His Performance

President Barack Obama’s national job approval rating sits at 46 percent in the latest Fox News Public Opinion Poll, down 19 points from a high of 65 percent at his inauguration.

And it looks like his popularity among his Hollywood supporters has also taken a hit.

FOXNews.com interviewed several celebrities over the past several weeks who supported Obama’s candidacy. A year-and-change into his first term, many are expressing disappointment regarding his positions on such issues as the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, gay marriage, health care and the economy, among other things.

Playboy founder Hugh Hefner is upset that the slow pace with which the President has moved troops out of combat operations overseas. “We need to get out of the wars, we’re going through the same thing as Vietnam right now,” Hefner told Pop Tarts. “We can’t please the world and all we do is make enemies.”

“True Blood” beauty Ashley Jones is upset with President Obama's health care initiatives.

“I was hoping for a different type of health reform,” Jones said last weekend. “I would like to see him not just trying to equalize everything, but actually make the quality of everything (better). It's great that we're having a health care reform, but if the quality will be compromised in any way for the majority just so everyone can have it, it seems counterproductive in some ways.”

Actress Rose McGowan is peeved that the President is, in her point of view, so “moderate” when going up against Republicans, and that he is yet to make gay marriage the “national law” – an issue television host/author Olivia Munn also got pretty fired up about.

“I'm really upset that Obama, as a Black man, and all the things that the African Americans have gone through after being oppressed, and said ‘you're less than,’ cannot stand up and say marriage is a union between two individuals who love each other,” she said. “Everyone should be allowed the same rights and if they want to exercise them, they can and if they don't, they don't.”

Comedian Cheech Marin would like Obama to show more strength in addressing the nation's fiscal crisis.

“I'd like to see [Obama] keep working to straighten out the economy because at the end of the day, no matter how highfalutin your philosophy is, if the economy isn't working then the country isn't happening,” Marin said.

Actor Joey Lawrence would simply like to see Obama live up to his campaign of “hope” and take a little more responsibility for all the issues, good and bad, a th the top of the country's national consciousness.

“This was a guy that was going to bring people together and I have yet to see that, and I'd like to see that. If you're the boss and if you're the Commander in Chief, then you have to own it,” Lawrence said “Those choices that you make, you can't pawn them off on the House leader or Senate leader. It's you! If you write the checks at the end of the day, the buck stops with you. He ran on that and I'd like to see him come through on that.”

However, despite Obama’s flagging popularity in the eyes of some Tinseltown types, actor John Lithgow refuses to abandon ship.

“Barack Obama carries the weight of the world on his shoulders, his approval rating has slipped, but not in my book," Lithgow declared backstage after winning an Emmy last weekend. "I’m a huge supporter of his.”

And Hollywood agent Michael Grippo says the showbiz community has faith that the President will still come through with the goods.

"I believe that Hollywood, like Americans in general, react to the situations and issues in our country in their own way," he said. "In large part I believe they are still behind our president and are still expecting great things."
