Authorities investigated a suspicious package from Yemen found at a New York airport, though they eventually determined that the package was not a threat.

The FBI, a city bomb squad and other law enforcement agencies, "out of an abundance of caution," inspected the package, found in a shipping building at New York City's JFK airport, one official told Fox News. No passenger terminals were affected.

The package, which arrived in the past few days, had been flagged for inspection as part of a blanket precaution for all packages from Yemen after makeshift bombs were found last week in two packages originating from the country, the official said. The bombs were tied to a branch of Al Qaeda based in Yemen.

And a spokesman at Glasgow Airport in Scotland says part of the airport has been evacuated after a suspicious package was found.

The spokesman, who spoke on anonymity in line with company policy, says the package was found in the security area where passengers are searched before they board a plane.

He says the area has been evacuated and bomb disposal squads have been called to the scene.

The airport remained open late Wednesday. Glasgow police confirmed there is an "ongoing situation" at the airport but declined to provide further details.
