Israel’s army has admitted the mistaken killing of a 65-year-old Palestinian man who was shot in his bedroom during a pre-dawn raid to capture a Hamas suspect who lived in the same building.
He was shot as Israeli troops converged on houses in the West Bank to re-arrest five members of the Islamist Hamas group who were released from Palestinian jails Thursday, Reuters reports.
Troops broke into the home of Amr Qawasme, one floor above a Hamas militant, and charged into his bedroom, according to local residents.
Qawasme’s wife, Sobheye, said she saw her husband lying in a pool of blood after hearing several shots fired.
