Authorities say police officers in Tennessee have shot a man during a confrontation at a home.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says in a news release that Sevier County sheriff's deputies shot 41-year-old Timothy McGill on Sunday at the home in Kodak in eastern Tennessee.

The statement says a woman at the home indicated her husband was threatening to harm himself. Upon arriving, a confrontation ensued with McGill that ended with deputies shooting him.

The statement didn't give additional details of the confrontation, identify the deputies or specify McGill's injuries. He was being treated at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

The TBI says witnesses are being interviewed and evidence is being collected in the investigation. No charges were immediately filed.
