Two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions -- but no sesame seed bun.
McDonald’s has been forced to stop selling its Big Mac sandwich in Venezuela as the famous burger has become the latest victim of the country’s food shortages, the AFP reports.
"At McDonald's Venezuela we are working to resolve this temporary situation,” the company said in a statement. “Together with our supplier we are evaluating the best options to allow us to continue offering quality products."
The fast food giant’s largest franchisee, Buenos Aires-based Arcos Dorados Holdings Inc., told Bloomberg that it has been unable to source the middle bun that separates the two patties.
But the company is still offering the quarter pounder and another burger called the McNífica, according to CNN Money.
The company also suspended sales of French fries for 11 months last year because of shortages, the AFP reported.
Venezuela has been mired in an economic crisis following the plunge in the price of oil, one of its key exports.
