MIAMI – Three Florida men are facing federal charges of trying to support the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.
A criminal complaint filed by the U.S. Attorney's Office in Miami says 52-year-old Gregory Hubbard, 50-year-old Darren Arness Jackson and 31-year-old Dayne Atani Christian have been charged with knowingly conspiring and attempting to provide material support and resources to the terrorist group ISIL. The Palm Beach County men were arrested Thursday, and a detention hearing is scheduled for next Wednesday.
The complaint says Hubbard told an FBI informant that he wanted to travel to Syria and join ISIL. It says Hubbard introduced the informant to Christian and Jackson, who provided weapons and firearms instruction.
A woman who answered the phone at the Federal Public Defender's office Friday said she had no record of the defendants.
