A Long Island woman has been indicted on animal cruelty and child endangerment charges following the discovery of 42 dead animals buried in her yard.

Court documents indicate Sharon McDonough will be arraigned Thursday on the upgraded charges.

The 43-year-old Selden, N.Y., woman was arrested in November on six misdemeanor counts alleging the abuse of living animals found in her home.

In December, a judge imposed $100,000 bail after a prosecutor cited evidence some of the dead animals had been tortured.

The woman's adult son also claimed he and his six younger sisters were forced to participate in the abuse of animals.

Her attorney said he has yet to see the indictment, but said his client intends to fight the charges.
