A manhunt is under way for a former Slippery Rock University basketball player in the deadly shootings of a pizzeria manager and a college student in North Carolina.

James Earl Richardson, 32, is wanted on two counts of murder in Tuesday's early-morning killings at a bar, according to The Rocket, Slippery Rock's school newspaper.

Police say Richardson got into a fight at a Greenville tavern, left and returned with a gun, the Rocket reported.

He allegedly began firing at random in what has been described as a drive-by shooting, killing 21-year-old East Carolina University student Landon Blackley and Andrew Kirby, who runs Michalengo's pizza shop in Greenville.

Richardson then sped off in his BMW and is now on the run, according to authorities. Police say he is armed and dangerous and have launched a massive search for him. He could face the death penalty.

The basketball star played at SRU in Pennsylvania from 1998 to 2000 and is ranked fourth of all time in the school's history.
