An Israeli man died Wednesday after falling from a helicopter that was flying him to a hospital after he sustained severe injuries in a minefield.
Numerous emergency responders were called to the scene after 24-year-old Alaa Agabriya lost his foot in a minefield located near the northern Israeli city of Beit She'an, according to Israeli news site Ynetnews.com.
Medical teams stabilized Agabriya, then strapped him to a medevac’s gear and began transporting him to the nearest hospital. But somehow slipped from the straps and plummeted to the ground, Ynetnews.com reported.
The Beit She'an Police said Agabriya, a Wadi Ara resident, and two friends had ignored posted warning signs and entered the minefield to have a picnic, the Web site reported.
Agabriya was rushed to the Rambam Medical Center in Haifa and later died of his wounds, police said.
