ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – Benazir Bhutto's husband calls for establishment of U.N. investigation into her killing, questioning why Scotland Yard was not called in October for a homicide blast then.
Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf said Wednesday that he had requested a team of investigators from Britain's Scotland Yard to assist in the investigation into Bhutto's killing.
The government has resisted calls from Bhutto's party for an independent investigation by a U.N. committee, and Musharraf's agreement to accept help from British investigators appears to be a compromise step to address growing suspicions of a government cover-up.
Musharraf also delayed elections until the middle of February.
Asif Ali Zardari, who took effective control of his slain wife's party, Sunday, said the Pakistan People's Party condemns the delay of elections, but will participate in it.
"We have decided to take part in the election," he said. "People should be peaceful and express their anger through their ballots."
