The son of R&B singer Chaka Khan (search) turned surrendered to police Monday after he learned that prosecutors had charged him with murder in the shooting death of a 17-year-old boy, police said.

Damien Patrick Holland (search), 25, surrendered with his attorneys at his side, according to a printed LAPD statement. He is being held on $2 million bail.

Prosecutors allege that Holland shot Christopher Baily (search), of Los Angeles, at a September 2004 party as the two struggled for a gun during a fight. Holland was initially taken into custody, but was released several days later when prosecutors said they didn't have enough evidence to press charges.

Detectives have since located witnesses to the murder, which led to the current charge, the police statement said.

Khan, 51, is known for hits such as "Tell Me Something Good" and "I Feel For You."
