BLOOMFIELD, Conn. – A Connecticut high school football player has been charged with fatally stabbing his lover with a steak knife after trying to end their relationship.
Bloomfield High School football captain Tarence Mitchell is charged with murder in the Thursday death of 27-year-old Ronald Taylor Jr. Mitchell is being held on $1 million bond.
WFSB-TV (http://bit.ly/18wQM3D ) reports court documents show 18-year-old Mitchell told investigators that Taylor got jealous when he texted girls. Mitchell says Taylor got angry when he tried to end their relationship, threatened him with a sword and bullied him on social media.
Mitchell says the attack began when Taylor hit him in the face. Mitchell told police he stabbed Taylor with a knife he had to defend himself.
Mitchell's mother says he's a good kid, not a murderer.
