It’s one thing to enjoy a fight between two strangers, but a fight between two friends?
Bellator’s event Thursday in Charlotte, N.C., featured a main event that had two Brazilian teammates fighting for the promotions bantamweight championship.
Eduardo Dantas, the champion, had just lost a controversial “stay busy” fight outside the promotion and was looking to prove that he deserved the belt.
Marcos Galvao had won three in a row, including wrapping up winning his first Bellator bantamweight tournament to earn the shot.
There may be some bad blood regarding the match up -- it’s unclear if they’re still friends. But what is known is that they were both Nova Uniao teammates in Brazil.
There was nothing special in regards to the first round but in the second Dantas landed an uppercut that hurt Galvao, sending him to the canvas before smashing him with hammer fists.
The KO puts Dantas back in the win column. And it leaves a friendship in limbo.
