Pittsburgh, PA – The Pittsburgh Pirates recalled pitcher Brandon Cumpton Tuesday from Triple-A Indianapolis.
The right-hander will make the start in the series opener against the Philadelphia Phillies in place of Jeff Locke.
The 24-year-old Cumpton posted a pair of no-decisions in two starts during his initial call-up in June, giving up four earned runs in 10 innings.
To make room on the roster, Pittsburgh optioned utilityman Josh Harrison to Indianapolis.
