A 10-year-old California boy is in stable condition but unable to speak after being shot five times at a children’s birthday party, his brother says.
Sacramento County police said Eric Raya was playing with another child on the front lawn of a North Highlands home late Saturday night when a car pulled up and shot him, News10 reports. The other children at the party were in the backyard.
"It was a black car. The car just stopped and started shooting them,” Monica Raya, the boy's older sister, told the station. “My brother was injured and nobody saw who shot [him]."
Eric Raya was hit in the stomach, arms and legs, but police have made no arrests.
Eric's brother, Oscar, said he told him to "be strong."
