Real Madrid overturned a one-goal deficit at halftime to secure a 5-2 win over Mallorca at the Bernabeu on Saturday.

Emilio Nsue's header in the sixth minute had Mallorca in front, but Gonzalo Higuain equalized in the 14th after neat flick from Pepe set him up.

A corner kick seven minutes later allowed Mallorca to restore its lead as the ball was nodded on at the near post by Pedro Bigas to Alfaro, who was waiting at the back post to touch the ball home.

But the second half was a complete reversal as the home side took control shortly after the break.

Cristiano Ronaldo got the scoring binge started in the 51st minute when he headed home Mesut Ozil's corner kick for his 350th career goal, leveling the contest.

But Madrid was just getting started and Luka Modric scored on a nice long- range effort a few minutes later that gave Mallorca goalkeeper Dudu Aouate no chance.

Higuain tallied his second goal of the contest in the 57th by finishing off a low ball from Ozil at close range, while Aouate made a nice save to deny the Argentina international his hat trick.

Karim Benzema then capped the scoring in stoppage time with an assist from Higuain, moving Real to within 10 points of leaders Barcelona.

Valencia 3, Real Betis 0

Valencia, Spain - Valencia continued its pursuit of a Champions League place on Saturday with a 3-0 home win over 10-man Real Betis.

The visitors were reduced to 10 men in the 15th minute when Antonio Amaya brought down Roberto Soldado inside the area, allowing the forward to pick himself up and fire home the opening goal from the penalty spot.

But it wasn't until the 85th minute that Los Che was able to extend that lead as a cross from Sergio Canales was turned into his own net by Betis' Paulao.

Jonas then added another goal in stoppage time when he turned home a cross from Tino Costa.

Real Sociedad 4, Valladolid 1

San Sebastian, Spain - Real Sociedad climbed to fourth place in La Liga on Saturday after a comfortable 4-1 win over Valladolid at the Anoeta.

A first-half brace from Antoine Griezmann and a goal from Imanol Agirretxe gave the home side a commanding 3-0 lead at halftime.

Xabi Prieto stretched the lead to 4-0 a few minutes into the second half when he exchanged passes with Griezmann before scoring from close range.

Javi Guerra pulled a goal back for Valladolid a few minutes from time, but it wasn't enough to cancel out a fine match from Griezmann.

Getafe 1, Athletic Bilbao 0

Getafe, Spain - A seventh-minute goal from Borja Fernandez was the difference as Getafe recorded a 1-0 win over Athletic Bilbao to keep their hopes of a Europa League place alive.

A corner kick seven minutes into the contest led to the lone goal as Pedro Leon's cross found Borja in front of the net and he reacted quickly to lash home a close-range effort.

Sergio Escudero nearly opened the scoring in the opening two minutes for Getafe, but his shot crashed off the crossbar, while Athletic's best opportunities were created by Aritz Aduriz, although he was unable to find a way past Getafe goalkeeper Miguel Moya.
