Buffalo Sabres forward Brad Boyes was suspended two preseason games by the NHL on Sunday for an illegal hit to the head.

The play occurred 1:46 into the first period of Saturday's game against Toronto when Boyes hit forward Joe Colborne. No penalty was assessed on the play.

Boyes will miss games against Columbus and Washington, but will be eligible to play when the Sabres open their season against Anaheim on October 7 in Helsinki, Finland.
