Milan attempts to lock up Champions League place against Roma

Milan, Italy – AC Milan can clinch the final Champions League spot in Serie A on Sunday with three points against Roma at the San Siro.

The Rossoneri enters the weekend four points clear of fourth-place Fiorentina, which will face relegation-battling Palermo earlier in the day needing a win to keep its slim top-three hopes alive.

Milan has won its last three games, including a 4-0 thrashing of relegated Pescara on Wednesday that saw Mario Balotelli net a brace in the victory.

After a poor start to the season that saw Milan win just one of its first four games, a top-three finish would be a nice way to bring an end to a frustrating season.

Roma has designs on a European spot as well as the capital club is two points adrift of a Europa League place.

Fiorentina must win on Sunday to keep its top-three hopes alive, but Palermo has plenty of incentive as well as the club needs a win to avoid being relegated.

Juventus clinched the Scudetto last weekend and will continue its victory lap at home on Saturday against Cagliari, while Lazio hopes to improve its Europa League hopes with three points against a Sampdoria side with little to play for.

Inter Milan brings a three-game losing streak into its match on Sunday against Genoa, which can secure safety with a win over the Nerazzurri.

Torino is also just about safe and can clinch another season in Serie A with a win at Chievo.

Napoli is locked into second place and has little on the line against relegated Siena, Pescara has been assured of last place and visits Catania, Udinese hosts Atalanta and Parma tangles with Bologna.
