Montreal, QC – Montreal Canadiens forward Lars Eller was released from the hospital Friday morning.
Eller had to be taken off the ice on a stretcher Thursday during the second period of Game 1 of the team's first-round playoff series against Ottawa after he absorbed a devastating hit from Senators defenseman Eric Gryba.
Gryba leveled Eller with a high hit as the latter collected a pass at the Montreal blue line.
The nasty collision knocked Eller out momentarily. He was hospitalized after sustaining a concussion as well as facial and dental fractures.
Gryba was assessed a five-minute major for interference, though the puck had made contact with Eller's stick, and a game misconduct for the hit.
