Pope Francis has named a former correspondent for Fox his new deputy spokesman.

Greg Burke, who has been working as a communications consultant in the Vatican's secretariat of state since 2012, will become the No. 2 spokesman as of Feb. 1.

Burke, a member of the conservative Opus Dei movement, will report to the Rev. Federico Lombardi, the Vatican's longtime Jesuit spokesman.

In another appointment announced Monday, the Vatican said Stefano D'Agostini will become the head of Vatican Television, which covers the pope's public and private doings in the Vatican.

Agostini, who had been CTV's technical director, takes over for Monsignor Dario Edoardo Viganò, who earlier this year was named prefect of the Vatican's new secretariat for communications, which aims to better unify and coordinate the Vatican's various media entities.
