The life of NBA champion coach Dr. Jack Ramsay is being celebrated, with fellow members of the Basketball Hall of Fame along with numerous friends and colleagues joining his family for his funeral.

Ramsay was eulogized by his son Chris, who told those inside St. John the Evangelist Church in southwest Florida that his father was "special in so many ways."

Pat Riley, Erik Spoelstra, Billy Cunningham, Bob McAdoo, Phil Martelli were among those attending.

Jack Ramsay led the Portland Trail Blazers to the 1977 NBA title. He also led Saint Joseph's — his alma mater — to the NCAA Final Four, and spent the last two decades of his life as one of the sport's more revered broadcasters.

Jack Ramsay died Monday, survived by five children. He was 89.
