Krauthammer said despite the many questions surrounding former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s handling of her e-mail, the issue will have little effect on her presidential run unless formal charges are filed.

Syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer said Friday on “Special Report with Bret Baier” that despite the many questions surrounding former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s handling of her e-mail, the issue will have little effect on her presidential run unless formal charges are filed.

“To paraphrase Hillary in another context, at this point, what difference does it make? The e-mails themselves are no longer a political issue. That’s done,” Krauthammer said. “The only political issue that’s left is the indictment. In other words, nobody cares about the ins and outs of the e-mail.”

While Krauthammer went on to say he is sure Clinton’s actions were illegal, he added that even her main Democratic opponent in the race for the White House admitted the issue itself wouldn’t influence the presidential contest.

“One of the major milestones… was when Bernie Sanders essentially said this is no longer an issue in the first debate, and it was over. It will only impact the race if an indictment comes out.”
