KABUL, Afghanistan – An Afghan official says a suicide car bomber has targeted a convoy of foreign troops in the capital, Kabul.
Najib Danish, the ministry's deputy spokesman, said on Sunday that the attack took place in the center of the city around 9 a.m.
He says there are civilian casualties but the numbers are still unclear as the area was choked with rush hour traffic.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack via a Twitter account known to be associated with the Islamic militant group.
A NATO spokesman, U.S. Army Col. Brian Tribus, confirmed the attack — saying it was a roadside bomb.
