Republican Senate leaders have promised a vote on defunding Planned Parenthood before lawmakers depart for their month-long summer recess, according to Sen. Rand Paul.

The Kentucky Republican and presidential candidate will announce at an anti-Planned Parenthood rally Tuesday a "commitment from Senate leadership for a vote on his legislation to defund Planned Parenthood prior to the August recess," according to a statement from his campaign.

Paul introduced one-page legislation last week that would prohibit any federal funding from going to Planned Parenthood, which would include Medicaid dollars and Title 10 family planning funds.

The House is scheduled to depart for August recess on Wednesday, while the Senate is expected to start its recess later in the week. The office of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell hasn't said what day the defunding vote would take place.
