A legal fight between a deep-sea treasure hunter and the investors who say he cheated them out of millions of dollars in gold is returning to Ohio.

Tommy Thompson waived an extradition hearing Thursday in federal court in West Palm Beach, Florida, paving the way for him to go north to face a charge of criminal contempt and a long-running civil case over his historic undersea find of gold.

That discovery was made 27 years ago, but those who invested in his pursuit of the shipwreck said they never got their fair share, and they've been embroiled in lawsuits since. He went missing amid demands he appear in an Ohio courtroom.

A defense attorney for 62-year-old Thompson says he expects extradition to take place within 10 days.
